About the Grant
In partnership with the Tennessee Department of Health and community partners from the TN Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Financing and Policy team, we are excited to announce a new grant funding opportunity. This opportunity is targeted toward community - focused and grassroots organizations interested in advancing the department’s Maternal Health Strategic Plan and helping mothers, babies, and families improve outcomes.

Funding Amount: $5,000 - $20,000
Application Period: July 1 - August 15, 2026
Award Notification & Executed Contract: September 22 - 28, 2026
Project Period: October 1, 2026 - September 28th, 2027
Who should apply?
Community focused maternal health programs.
Small non-profits serving local communities.
Grassroots Organizations focused on maternal health outcomes.
Rural maternal health providers with limited supports or funding.
Maternal mental health focused organizations or providers with limited resources or funding.
In general, Grassroots or community-focused nonprofits are small-scale, locally rooted organizations that operate with limited budgets, volunteer-driven staffing, and a strong emphasis on local engagement. Organizations that are not legally recognized as non-profits can apply with sponsorship from a certified non-profit organization. For details on sponsorship visit the resource below.

Prenatal and postpartum support services
Family wellness and nutrition initiatives for mom & baby
Mental health resources for new parents
Increased access to Maternal Health Services and Resources
Increasing access to pediatric providers

Requirements
Grassroots & community focused
Must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or sponsored by one
Demonstrated experience in maternal/family health
Provide a detailed project budget and timeline
Provide references as requested
Provide Financial Records as requested
Commit to brief mid-year & final progress reports
