Title: Protecting Vulnerable Children: Understanding Human Trafficking and Its Impact

Date: June 27th, 2025

Time: 9:30am CST/ 10:30am EST

Description:

Human trafficking is a hidden epidemic that disproportionately affects vulnerable children, especially those in foster care, with over 60% of survivors having spent time in the system. This 2-hour session will educate attendees on what human trafficking is, the foster care to human trafficking pipeline, the signs of trafficking, the role social media plays in recruitment and exploitation, the practical steps they can take to protect the children they serve, and how to report a suspected case of human trafficking. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the issue, tools for identifying potential victims, and resources for preventing trafficking and supporting at-risk youth.

Presenter(s): Kait Poppa, MS, Anti-Trafficking Program Manager at The No More Foundation

Kait Poppa has been a member of The No More Foundation team since July 2022. Now as the Anti-Trafficking Program Manager, she focuses on creating tailored human trafficking training for businesses, churches, healthcare agencies, government agencies, and schools all across the Tampa Bay Area and the State of Florida.  Kait graduated from the University of Florida in 2019 with a B.S. in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and graduated from Liberty University with a M.S. in Marketing and Project Management in December 2021.

No More (NM) stands firmly on the fact that, “Where you find poverty, you find vulnerability. And where you vulnerability, you find exploitation.” The numbers don’t lie. The most at-risk in our country and around the world for human trafficking are children without families, and many of them come from generations that have struggled living below the poverty line. NM believes strongly that everyone can do something. And together we can do so much more! Check out more information regarding No More and its impact in the communities we serve here.
